Gerle Creek Area Campgrounds. Loon Lake campgrounds are at about 6,400 feet in elevation and are usually open from mid-June through mid-October. Single sites are limited to 1 vehicle and 6 people. An extra vehicle is allowed for an additional fee if parking space permits.
The campground itself is home to the Gerle Creek Campground Trail, a two-mile tree-lined route that takes in the lakeshore, and you’ll find some more challenging hikes in the nearby Desolation Wilderness Area. Gerle Creek doesn’t have any wifi, and cellular coverage ranges from spotty to non-existent, so this is not the best camping choice
